Super System Review – Government's Response
On the 16th December 2010, The Federal Government announced its response to the Super System Review (also known as the Cooper Review) on 16 December 2010..which included a specific section for the SMSF sector. Approximately 75% of recommendations were accepted, with about 17% rejected, and the remainder “noted”.
Latest SMSF Statistics from Australian Tax Office
According to the latest statistical report for SMSFs up to September 2010, there are now434,239 self managed super funds in existence, with a total of 830,883 members.
Their investments are valued at $408 billion, with the largest asset classes still listed shares and cash.
There were 6,763 new SMSFs setup in the September quarter alone and this growth continues.
